Diferenças entre "have" e "have got".
Em inglês americano não se usa de forma tão frequente a construção "have got" como em inglês britânico.
» "have" e "have got" têm o mesmo significado: "ter", "possuir".
Exemplos:
I have two boys.
(Eu tenho dois meninos.)

I have got a cat.
(Eu tenho um gato.)
Porém, gramaticalmente, estes vocábulos têm pequenas diferenças. Veja:
» Usam auxiliares diferentes para fazer perguntas e dar respostas curtas. Quando "have" está sozinho usa os auxiliares "do, does", mas quando está acompanhado por "got", "have" passa a ser o auxiliar da frase. Leia os exemplos abaixo:
Exemplos:
Do you have any children? Yes, I do.
(Você tem filhos? Sim.)

Have you got a car? Yes, I have.
(Você tem um carro? Sim.)
» Outra pequena diferença é que "have" se usa em todos os tempos verbais e "have got" somente se usa no presente.

Atenção:
Em frases afirmativas em presente simples "have" com os pronomes pessoais "he, she, it" toma a forma de "has".
