» Em frases negativas ambas construções ficam: "there are not" e "there is not".
Exemplo:
There is not a man in the car. (Não há um homem no carro.)
There are not 30 students in my class. (Não há 30 alunos na minha classe.)
» Em frases interrogativas ficam: "Is there...?" e "Are there...?". Para responder usa-se "Yes, there is. / No, there isn't." e "Yes, there are. / No, they aren't."
Exemplo:
Is there time? Yes, there is. (Há tempo? Sim, há tempo.)
Are there any restaurants in this area? No, there aren't. (Há algun restaurante nesta área? Não, não há nenhum.)
