Eu estava estudando e fiquei em dúvida com a frase "die of a broken heart". O contexto foi o seguinte:
I didn't really want to go out with him. He didn't really care about me. I was only a date for the evening. All right, it wasn't nice, but he certainly didn't die of a broken heart. Didn't he go to the party anyway? Yes, I think he did. I'm sure he did.
Eu pesquisei um pouco e achei o significado da expressão e quero compartilhar esse novo conhecimento com vocês.
Die of a broken heart significa morrer de extrema tristeza e desesperança.
Nesse texto significa que o homem não morreu de tristeza, "didn't" é uma negação.
